Job Description

Job Purpose
Develop, document and support the game UI art pipelines and techniques used by the production teams on the project.

Reports To
Technical Art Director

• Participate in technical art reviews, post-mortem analysis, and encourage artists to share knowledge with their peers; 
• Work with the technical art team to identify ways to increase efficiencies in processes and production pipelines and identify risks or flaws in proposed pipelines;
• Provide documentation of art processes and assist in defining the art pipeline within the assigned project; 
• Ensure UI assets are game ready;
• Assist in the optimization of UI content for memory and performance gains; 
• Help to improve the pipelines and skills needed for the production art team;
• Understand best practices, pipelines and workflows; 
• Provide documentation of the UI art processes to assist and develop others;
• Streamline UI texturing and visual effects to meet the needs of the project; 
• Maintain a balance between day to day work and improving workflows;


Skills and Knowledge
• Experience developing custom tools for Digital Content Creation tools (Maya, Max, Photoshop, etc)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong knowledge of at least one game tech art area:  Modeling, Animation, Shaders/Materials, VFX
• Strong art creation skills in your area of expertise
• Conversant in most areas of game technical art
• Understanding of the performance implications of game art asset creation

Relevant Experience
• Working experience in the video game industry
• Shipped previous titles as a Technical Artist, ideally within a UI specialised role
